Read My Story
This is my story.
Last year I was feeling really ill, I had no energy and put on a lot of weight then I started getting a really sore eye. My owners kept taking me to see the vet because they couldn't work out why I didn't want to come out of my bed and play. I had to have a special diet food, it tasted ok and I lost a bit of weight but I still didn't feel like doing very much.
I needed to go back to the vet to have blood tests which showed I was ill and needed medicine every day which made me feel a bit better after just a few weeks but still didn't feel like doing much, my family were worried so changed my food again to see if that would help me and it's so delicious I don't like anything else now.
And so began a long journey to where I am today - all because my family cared enough to take the time to find out what was really wrong with me.
This is the story of those difficult times and we tell it in the hope it will be of some use to anyone suffering the way I was.
The start of 2009 was a very worrying time for us, our very much loved 5 year old Rottie was not well at all. It started with him struggling to jump in and out of the car but progressed quickly to not wanting to do anything other than sleep and he was also suffering from constant eye infections.
He'd lay in his bed sleeping all day long only waking to go out for the toilet and eat then he would go straight back to his bed and sleep sound for many hours totally oblivious to anything going on around him. We took him for a check up with the vet and it seemed likely an injury was possibly to blame so he had a trial period on painkillers to see if he improved but it made no difference in fact he deteriorated further. By this time he had also started to suffer with extremely dry skin and his coat felt like wire wool the next step was blood tests and the results showed he has Hypothyroidism (an under active Thyroid) alongside this his Cholesterol level was alarmingly high and his Protein level was far too low. It's no wonder the poor lad felt so ill.
Although there was a significant improvement in his energy levels on his medication it felt like a never ending battle to get the excess weight off him and his eye was still a problem. We later found our boy had developed an Entropion due to the extra weight he was carrying around his face and very dry eyes caused by the Hypothyroidism.
We started to look at his diet as we had heard that pet food isn't as healthy as manufacturers would like us to believe and after extensively researching the ill effects popular mass produced commercial pet foods have on our pets we realised we needed to find a healthy alternative which led to us finding the very best natural healthy products we are now dedicated to promoting.
Our boy started his holistic diet then went on to have surgery to correct the Entropion and from then on it's been plain sailing, his energy levels rapidly increased and the extra weight just as swiftly came off. Within two months of being on his new diet he was bouncing around like a puppy and still is.
In February 2009 our boy at 5 years old weighed 59.8kg could barely lift his head up at times and looked like an old timer and all thanks to his healthy diet in April 2010 he weighed in at a trim 43.3kg is full of beans with no skin problems and a beautiful glossy coat.
